Gospel means the proclamation of the redemption accomplished by Jesus Christ through His death and resurrection, which is the central content of Christian faith. It is good news. Nevertheless, people hate death, and to talk about it is fearful to them just as it is to me; but any good news which fails to warn about the consequence of eternal separation from God is not a complete gospel.

The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 3:2 that there is “a time to be born and time to die”; and Hebrew 9:27 affirms that “it is appointed for men to die once, but after this, the judgment”. Let me explain this statement for easy understanding; God has already judged Jesus Christ on the cross in your place. He so loved the world and loved you personally enough to make this switch.Jesus died on the cross and descended into hell.

He is the only one with the capacity to go into hell on your behalf and to come out of it. He decided to suffer the penalty of your sins by dying on the cross. And the Word of God declares that “there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit” [Rom 8:1]. In other words, you need not go to hell if you believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins.

There is hell and there is heaven; therefore, we must die shortly-after in order to begin eternity in heaven or hell. Which is your eternity? If you are not sure it is heaven, sin is responsible. The Bible declares that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God [Rom 3:23]; and that the wages of sin is death [Rom 6:23]. No one can deny that temporal satisfaction is derived from the passing pleasures of fraudulent wealth, fornication, adultery, drunkenness, drug abuse and corruption. But the consequences are agonizing too. Can't you see how the Devil is gradually taking over the lives of our youth and adult in a furious rage of evil?

Hell means eternal separation from God. If you die a sinner, you will be eternally disconnected from God even if you do not want to. But God desires to unite you with Himself in heaven. He is so determined to save you that He sacrificed His Son on the cross; therefore, eternal life through Christ has become a free gift to all who believe.

You dislike death just as I do; but I also hate sin that is responsible. Understandably, I am not a fine example of a Christian leader because of the enormity of sins I committed in the past; but I am a good example of a repentant heart; and I obtained mercy as the grace of the Lord Jesus upon my life was exceedingly abundant. God desires that all should come to repentance and be saved; but you have to do something while you are alive. You must make a valid decision now to accept Christ into your heart and go to heaven.

Repentance is a decision; decision is a resolve to do what you want to do. We make numerous decisions every day; but the life-changing decision you must make today is to confess your sins before God and be remorseful about them. You must also forsake these sins and, by faith, accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour; because He is “the way, the truth, and the life” [John 14:6], no one comes to God except through Jesus.

I watched in dismay, a true movie about an armed robber who forcefully entered the house of a Christian couple while running away from the Police. Despite the trespass, the couple responded by showing hospitality. After sharing with the robber their faith in Christ, they invited him to repent. But he decided that it was too late, so he thought. He became desperate and confronted the armed Police with the gun in his hand. He was shot and killed instantly.

What a contrast! In the story of the criminal who was nailed alongside with Jesus Christ on the cross, when he saw a window of opportunity to be saved, he seized it by remorsefully repenting and asking Jesus to remember him when He comes into His Kingdom [Luke 23: 39-43]. His request was granted.

We live in a guilty world that has relegated God and embraced sex perversion, homosexuality, drug addiction, drunkenness, stealing, falsehood, extortion and corruption; a dangerous world of kidnapping, killing, rape, abortion, suicide bombing, assassination and terrorism. God is willing to forgive these sins; but are you prepared to come to Him in repentance? Remember that your decision to repent ought to be now, because you cannot be sure of a longer time before you begin your final appointment with death.

To begin a relationship with Jesus, please say this prayer: Lord Jesus, the Word of God touched my heart today. I have realized that I am a sinner and horrified about the consequences of sin. I therefore repent and forsake my iniquities. Have mercy on my soul and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I invite you into my heart to help me live a godly life henceforth. Amen.
